BREAKING: Hamas Mortar Kills 4-Year-Old Israeli Boy

A four-year-old boy in Nahal Oz, a town on the Gaza border, was killed by Hamas mortar fire today.

The Jerusalem Post reports:

Medical officials in southern Israel announced the death of a four-year-old Israeli boy who suffered serious injuries when a mortar launched from the northern Gaza Strip directly slammed into a car before sundown on Friday.

According to Channel 10, Magen David Adom rescue services rushed the boy to hospital, listing him in grave condition. A short time later, the boy was pronounced dead.

In late July, Nahal Oz was the site of an attempted terrorist infiltration.

There are no warning systems for mortars, which are shorter range weapons than rockets. Twice during Operation Protective Edge, groups of IDF soldiers near Gaza were struck by mortars, both times causing multiple casualties.

Earlier in the day, three people were reported injured when a rocket hit a synagogue in the southern Israeli city of Ashdod.

Yesterday, a major tragedy was averted when a father helped a group of thirty children, including his son, get to safety when a rocket slammed into a kindergarten in the Eshkol region. The father was “moderately” injured.
