Trump to Visit Saudi Arabia, Israel and the Vatican in First Trip Abroad as President

On his first trip abroad as president later this month, Donald Trump plans to visit Saudi Arabia, Israel and the Vatican, Politico reported Thursday.

At a signing ceremony the president characterized the upcoming travel as “historic” and a chance to marshal the forces of religious tolerance against terrorism.

While in Saudi Arabia, Trump plans to meet with leaders across the Muslim world.

“Saudi Arabia is the custodian of the two holiest sites in Islam, and it is there that we will begin to construct a new foundation of cooperation and support with our Muslim allies, to combat extremism, terrorism and violence,” Trump explained, “and to embrace a more just and hopeful future for young Muslims in their countries.”

Trump also spoke of creating a coalition to fight terror and to help bring stability to the Middle East.

“Tolerance is the cornerstone of peace,” Trump said as he announced his planned travel to “Saudi Arabia, then Israel, and then to a place that my cardinals love very much, Rome.”

Trump will then travel to Brussels for a NATO meeting, followed by Sicily for a meeting of the G-7 nations before returning to the United States.
