South Korean pop star Psy is reportedly heading to Israel this summer. The singer is scheduled to perform two concerts, one in Tel Aviv and one in the resort city of Eilat.
The K-pop icon’s “Gangnam Style” music video has been viewed on YouTube more than one billion times since its release last summer. He is the latest in a string of artists to perform in the Jewish state, joining the likes of Madonna, Macy Gray, Elton John, Paul Simon, Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, MGMT, Depeche Mode, Paul McCartney, and Justin Bieber.
The visit comes amid broad rejection in the artist community of fringe efforts to culturally and economically boycott Israel. Musicians, filmmakers, and television figures last year formed the Creative Community For Peace with an eye toward resisting the “singling out [of] Israel” by anti-Israel activists.
