Israel’s LawGeex Wins First Burton Award for Law-Tech

Israeli legal-tech company LawGeex was the first-ever recipient of the Technology Advancement in Law Award, a new category in the prestigious Burton Awards co-hosted by the Library of Congress and co-sponsored by the American Bar Association.

The 20-year-old Burton Awards, dedicated to recognizing excellence in law, lauded LawGeex for its revolutionary Contract Review Automation platform, said to save lawyers 50% to 80% of contract-review time and cost, and ensuring consistent application of company policies.

The 2019 Burton Awards ceremony was held in May at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC. Among the 500 attendees were Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court John Roberts and representatives of all the top 20 American law firms and Ivy League law schools.

“Appreciating the growing importance of technology, the Burton Awards decided to recognize products which advance the practice of law, are disrupting the market, produce material time-cost savings, and have a demonstrated impact,” the organizers said in a press release.

LawGeex was one of 18 Israeli companies named to Red Herring’s 2019 Top 100 list and one of 10 Tel Aviv-based companies named to Wired’s 2018 list of 100 Hottest Startups in Europe. Its software has been proven more efficient than human lawyers at contract review.
