Israeli President Shimon Peres is due to receive the official results from the country’s January 22 election. The president will then begin marathon meetings with leaders whose parties will be represented in Israel’s incoming 19th Knesset. Peres’s meetings are meant to assist the president in evaluating which party leader has the greatest chance of forming a governing coalition. Peres is widely expected to select incumbent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose center-right Likud-Beiteinu list garnered 31 out of 120 seats.
