Iran Has Virtually Completed Installing Centrifuges At Underground Enrichment Facility

The New York Times yesterday cited a consensus of intelligence officials from multiple countries to the effect that “Iran in recent weeks has virtually completed” installing centrifuges at the underground enrichment facility housed in its Fordow military installation. The paper reports that Tehran’s success comes “despite international pressure and heavy economic sanctions,” and comes on top of an August announcement by the IAEA that described work at Fordo as “three-quarters complete.” The news seems likely to further boost the case of skeptics who insist that diplomacy is inadequate for halting Iran’s drive to develop a nuclear weapon.
