Iran Escalates Threats Against Israel, Declares Israel Will Be Drawn “Deep In the Fire”

Iranian officials today escalated their threats against Israel, with multiple military figures declaring that Israel would be attacked in the event of Western air strikes against the Iranian-allied Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria:

“Any military measure against Syria will draw the Zionists deep in the fire [as well],” said Major General Hassan Firouzabadi in an address on the recent American military threats against the Syrian nation and government on Thursday.

Further elaborating on the ramifications of a potential new military move in the region, the top military commander said, “This will be a huge damage to the human community and its effects will not be merely limited to the Muslim community.”

He stated, “The US, Britain and the rest of their allies will suffer greatly by deploying their military forces to the region and Syria.”

Mohammad Ali Jafari, the chief of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, asserted that U.S. military action against Syria would trigger the Jewish state’s “imminent destruction.”Other Iranian officials have recently threatened that Israel would become the “first victim” of Western air strikes against Syria, and that it would be consumed by “flames of outrage” in the event of such strikes.

In Lebanon Iran’s terror proxy Hezbollah began to mobilize troops in the country’s south, and declared that it may launch attacks against the Jewish state.

Hezbollah said it would fire rockets at Israel if the West attacks Syria in an attempt to topple Syrian President Bashar Assad.

However, if the strikes were limited, Hezbollah would probably not retaliate, according to sources close to the group quoted in a report on Wednesday in the Lebanese Daily Star.

“In the event of a qualitative [Western military] strike that aims to change the balance of power in Syria, Hezbollah will fight on various fronts,” the senior source said.
