Bulgarian officials have evidence linking Hezbollah to the terrorist attack last year in Burgas that killed five Israeli tourists and a Bulgarian, according to a Lebanese media outlet citing European sources. Bulgarian media also carried the leak, which echoes reports that emerged last week in Israeli media and which were hastily denied by Sofia. The Lebanese report notes that Bulgaria has been facing intense pressure from Germany and France to downplay links between Hezbollah and the bombing. Berlin and Paris have been resisting efforts to have the EU designate Hezbollah a terrorist entity, and a formal finding linking the Iran-backed group to a terror attack on European Union soil would make their positions untenable.
