Belgium Blocks Efforts To Place Hezbollah On E.U’s Terror List

Belgium is blocking efforts to place Hezbollah on the European Union’s terror list, despite explicit and repeated requests from U.S. counter-terrorism officials. Hezbollah is an Iranian proxy that has been linked to past and ongoing terror operations on five continents – in the Middle East and central Asia, in North America, in South America, in Africa, and in the European Union itself – and Belgium’s opposition to designating the group is likely to be taken as further evidence of deep hostility toward Israel in Brussels. The Belgian government has gone farther than others in Europe in sanctioning diplomatic assaults on Israel, while Belgian universities have been criticized for endorsing efforts to economically suffocate the Jewish State.
