A Palestinian wearing what looked like a suicide belt was shot after he stabbed an Israeli Border Police officer near Ramallah, The Times of Israel reported Friday. The belt did not explode, though it isn’t clear if it had explosives.
“A terrorist approached Border Police officers who were responding to a riot at the Judea and Samaria Square in Ramallah, and stabbed one of them,” according to a statement from police.
The officer was reported to be in “moderate condition with two stab wounds in the upper body” and was being evaluated at Jerusalem’s Shaarei Tzedek hospital.
The terrorist was killed according reports in the Palestinian media.
Riots were reported in the West Bank cities of Ramallah, Bethlehem, Hebron, Qalqilya and Nablus, following mid-day prayers. Fewer people participated in the riots this week, which were also less violent than last Friday’s.
In a separate incident, an Israeli man from the community of Hizme, outside Jerusalem, was injured when Palestinians threw rocks at his car. He was taken to a Jerusalem hospital.
