Award-Winning Gallery Chain Opens Branch in Tel Aviv

The newest LUMAS gallery in Tel Aviv is bringing the best of the photography world to the Israeli art scene.

LUMAS Tel Aviv opened its doors this month, joining other top art cities like Berlin, Amsterdam, Toronto, New York, Melbourne, Zurich and others as a location for this award-winning franchise gallery, which specializes in photographic and digital photo-based artwork.

“The goal is to share the love for photography with the world,” said Bernd Stadweiser, CEO LUMAS. “I take personal pride in opening the first branch in Israel, and see it as a tremendous step for the chain in its vision to spread its love of photography to an audience that knows how to appreciate art.”

LUMAS Tel Aviv is located in the stylish residential Levontin neighborhood of the city (18 Mikve Israel Street). The gallery is set up like someone’s home, with the photographic pieces displayed on walls of what could be a living room or bedroom.

The LUMAS collection includes more than 2,000 pieces by some 250 established artists and promising newcomers. The new Tel Aviv gallery’s presence should, in the near future, help bring Israeli photographers to the forefront and into the international LUMAS collection, according to a spokesperson.

The LUMAS chain opened its first gallery in Germany in 2004 with the vision to make the art market more accessible for a new generation of collectors. Founders Stefanie Harig and Marc Ullrich were twice recognized as finalists for “Entrepreneur of the Year” by Ernst & Young.
