Chinese Taipei and host South Korea are both 0-2, meaning that the undefeated Israeli and Dutch teams have clinched the top two spots in Pool A. The two teams will play each other on Thursday evening.

Israel and the Netherlands will play the top two teams in Pool B beginning March 12. Japan, playing at home, currently leads Pool B at 2-0, with Cuba a game behind. Australia and China both lost their opening game and are playing each other on Thursday.

Israel qualified for the Classic by winning a play-in tournament last September. Ranked number 41 by the World Baseball Softball Confederation, Israel beat 3rd-ranked South Korea and 4th-ranked Chinese Taipei in a span of 24 hours to open the tournament.
