Netanyahu Phones Trump and Clinton, Thanks Both for Longtime Support of Israel

In a pair of phone calls, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with both President-elect Donald Trump and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton following Tuesday’s presidential vote.

Calling Trump a “great friend of Israel,” Netanyahu expressed his gratitude to the president-elect for his frequently declared support for Israel. The two also discussed a number of regional issues. Trump invited Netanyahu to meet with him in Washington “at the first opportunity.”

“I look forward to working with you to advance security, prosperity and peace,” Netanyahu said in a separate video message to Trump. “Israel is grateful for the broad support it enjoys among the American people, and I’m confident that the two of us, working closely together, will bring the great alliance between our two countries to even greater heights.”

Netanyahu also called Clinton to thank her for her support of Israel over the years. He also told the former Secretary of State that she had an open invitation to visit Israel.
