Mastermind of ISIS Paris Attacks: “It’s Nice to See the Blood of Infidels”

A video of Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the suspected mastermind behind the Paris terror attacks last week, showed a clip of him saying that it would be “nice to see … the blood of infidels.”

An ISIS-made video, which was uncovered by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), is embedded below. It shows Abaaoud, also known as Abu Umar al-Baljiki, in a bunker in Syria:

Admittedly there is no joy in spilling blood although it’s nice to see from time to time the blood of infidels, because we were educated growing up seeing all over the world on TV, the blood of Muslims, which for decades has been shed. … I would like to send a message to those who stay put and do not wage Jihad: Arise and go forth to fight in the path of Allah. Go forth to victory in this world and in the Hereafter. Is there anything better than Jihad and martyrdom on the path to Allah?

MEMRI also released excerpts from a interview with Abaaoud in ISIS’ English language magazine, Dabiq.

“DĀBIQ: If you weren’t with them when the raid occurred, why did you become a suspect?”

“ABŪ ‘UMAR: The intelligence knew me from before as I had been previously imprisoned by them. After the raid on the safe house, they figured out that I had been with the brothers and that we had been planning operations together. So they gathered intelligence agents from all over the world – from Europe and America – in order to detain me. They arrested Muslims in Greece, Spain, France, and Belgium in order to apprehend me. Subhānallāh, all those arrested were not even connected to our plans!”

“DĀBIQ: Tell us about your journey to Shām.”

“ABŪ ‘UMAR: Alhamdulillāh, Allah blinded their vision and I was able to leave and come to Shām despite being chased after by so many intelligence agencies. All this proves that a Muslim should not fear the bloated image of the crusader intelligence. My name and picture were all over the news yet I was able to stay in their homeland, plan operations against them, and leave safely when doing so became necessary.”

A CNN news segment (embedded below) featured the video and other information MEMRI uncovered.
