The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) released a new propaganda video praising Friday’s deadly terror attacks in Paris and threatening to similarly “strike” Washington D.C., NBC reported Monday. An NBC News broadcast with images from the ISIS video is embedded below.
ISIS has released propaganda videos celebrating the attacks in Paris and threatening to carry out another in Washington, D.C.
In one of the videos, a purported Algerian member of the terror group addresses the United States, saying, “like France we will strike in its center in Washington,” according to global security firm and NBC News analyst Flashpoint Intelligence.
The man also threatens that ISIS is coming to Europe with “booby traps and explosives.”
In another video, an ISIS member can be seen congratulating his “brothers” for the attacks in Paris.
On Monday, President Francois Hollande declared that France was at war with ISIS before a rare joint session of parliament. Authorities carried out massive raids across Europe on Sunday night in an effort to apprehend those responsible for Friday’s attacks, one of which targeted a theater with Jewish links.
Secretary of State John Kerry said on Saturday that Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad had “cut his own deal” with ISIS and therefore could not be a partner in the fight against the terrorist organization. Kerry’s remarks reflected various news reports and analyses indicating that, rather than working to weaken ISIS, Assad and his Iranian sponsors have cooperated with the terrorist group.
