Three Israel Policemen Injured in Jerusalem after Molotov Cocktail Attack

Three Israeli policemen and one Palestinian rioter were injured in a clash in Jerusalem, when rioters threw Molotov cocktails and stones at security forces, The Times of Israel reported today.

Israel Police said that the incident began when Border Police deployed in the East Talpiot area came under a deluge of petrol bombs and stones.

The security forces chased the rioters into the adjacent Jabel Mukaber neighborhood, where they were met by large numbers of young men who had set fire to tires and a garbage dumpster, and who then clashed with the Border Police officers.

The rioters threw a patrol bomb at the Border Police vehicle, wounding the three officers. The police fired into the air and at the rioters who threw the petrol bombs. Three people were arrested.

Yesterday evening, a bus in the Ras el-Amoud neighborhood in Jerusalem was stoned and set ablaze, allegedly by Palestinian assailants, according to The Jerusalem Post. The driver of the vehicle escaped, and no injuries were reported. Earlier that day, another bus came under attack near the Palestinian town of Hizma. The driver suffered light injures and the windshield of the vehicle was damaged.

The unrest came in the wake of a speech by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas calling on Palestinians to prevent Jews from defiling holy sites in Jerusalem with their “filthy feet.”
