Netanyahu To Meet With Bipartisan Senate Leadership After Speech Next Week

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R – Ky.) and Minority Leader Harry Reid (D – Nev.) when in Washington to address Congress next week, The Times of Israel reported yesterday.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will hold a meeting with a bipartisan Congressional delegation while in Washington next week, a senior official in the Prime Minister’s Office said Thursday.

The invitation was extended by Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell and minority leader Senator Harry Reid, and comes as tensions between Jerusalem and Washington remain high over the planned speech.

The closed-door meeting will likely take place over lunch Tuesday, right after Netanyahu’s speech, the official said.

Despite an effort to boycott or postpone Netanyahu’s speech on the dangers of a nuclear Iran, the vast majority of Democrats are planning to attend. Current and past Democratic politicians have called on their fellow party members to attend.
