Four Israelis Injured in Terror Attacks Last Week Amid Continued Palestinian Incitement

An Israeli girl remains in serious condition following an attack in which a Molotov cocktail was thrown into her family’s car in the West Bank Thursday evening, hours before a terrorist in Jerusalem stabbed and wounded two Israeli police officers. IDF forces on Friday arrested a dozen Palestinians in connection with the attack, which left 11-year-old Ayala Shapira, whose mother had escaped a similar attack a month earlier, with third-degree burns over more than a third of her body, and hospitalized her father.  Two teens who had been apprehended subsequently confessed to the attack. The Jerusalem knife attack occurred Friday near the city’s Temple Mount area, when a Palestinian assailant stabbed one policeman in the neck and another in the arm.

Israel had in November lifted age restrictions on Muslim worshipers in the Temple Mount complex, which had been put in place after an uptick in violence begun weeks earlier. The Palestinian Authority has for months been accused of inciting violence, and a wave of attacks against Israelis – including several “hit-and-run” incidents, an attack in which an Israeli man was shot point-blank in the chest, and a massacre that saw two armed Palestinians enter a synagogue, killing four rabbis and a Druze responder – has largely been attributed to incitement by leading Palestinian officials, who in recent months have praised Palestinian terrorists who have carried out attacks and encouraged violence against Jews and Israelis.

The attacks on Thursday and Friday come days after Israeli media reported the arrest of more than half a dozen Palestinians on charges of incitement. The arrests reportedly occurred earlier in December and were described by Ynet as part of the “biggest operation yet aimed at halting incitement to violence on social networks.”
