Video Shows Palestinians Preventing Medical Treatment of Minister

Sky News has posted a video showing an Israeli army medic attempting to treat Palestinian minister Ziad Abu Ein as he lies on the ground; the medic’s efforts are interrupted when the minister is picked up and rushed away by the crowd.

The video is narrated by Sky News correspondent Tom Rayner, who identifies a medic wearing blue gloves (seen briefly) attending to Abu Ein.

“But then the Palestinians around him decide against keeping him there and decide to rush him to a hospital in Ramallah where, of course he was pronounced dead on arrival.” (about 2:22)

The presence of the medic raises doubts about certain allegations surrounding the minister’s death. The New York Times reported that Abu Ein suffered damage to his “front teeth and bruises on the tongue, neck and windpipe,” leading Palestinians to claim that he was beaten. However, the Israeli pathologist who viewed the autopsy said that those injuries were “more compatible with the results of resuscitation efforts.”
