Abbas’ Fatah Movement Honors Light Rail Terrorist as “Heroic Martyr”

The official Facebook page of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party today posted a tribute to Abdel Rahman Al-Shaloudi, who ran his car into a crowd of Israelis exiting Jerusalem’s light rail yesterday, injuring eight and killing three month old Chaya Zissel Braun. The Facebook post called the terrorist a “heroic martyr.”

Elhanan Miller of The Times of Israel reports:

“The Silwan branch of Fatah honors the heroic martyr Abdel Rahman Al-Shaludi, who executed the Jerusalem operation which led to the running over of settlers in the occupied city of Jerusalem,” read the notice, posted on Fatah’s official Facebook page.

Shaludi, a nephew of slain Hamas explosives expert Mohiyedine Sharif, was believed to be a Hamas supporter based on his militant Facebook posts. But the new Fatah poster may indicate an organizational affiliation with the rival Palestinian organization.

Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) discovered that in addition to the official organizational tribute to al-Shaloudi, other Fatah members, including an adviser to Abbas, also praised the terrorist.

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ advisor has glorified the terrorist who murdered three-month-old Israeli-American Haya Zissel-Brown and injured 8 others yesterday, when he intentionally drove his car into people waiting for a train. Sultan Abu Al-Einein, advisor to Abbas, praised the terrorist, calling him a “heroic Martyr” on his official Facebook page. …

Member of Fatah Central Committee, Mahmoud Al-Aloul, also copied this praise from Fatah on his personal Facebook page.

PMW also observes that this isn’t the first time Al-Einan has praised a terrorist who murdered Israelis.

Earlier today, Fatah’s rival, the terrorist organization Hamas, also praised al-Shaloudi as a “hero.” In addition users of Hamas’ official web forum “praised the attack, expressing joy over the wounding of Israelis.”

In a statement made after yesterday’s terror attack, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “This is how Abu Mazen’s partners in government act, the same Abu Mazen [AKA Mahmoud Abbas] who – only a few days ago – incited toward a terrorist attack in Jerusalem.”
