Breaking: Baby Dead, Eight More Injured in Jerusalem Light Rail Terror Attack

An apparent terror attack at the Ammunition Hill (Givat Hatachmoshet) light rail station today in Jerusalem has killed a 3-month-old baby and left eight people injured after a car plowed into passengers who had just disembarked. A video of the attack from a distance is embedded below.

The Times of Israel had more details:

Unconfirmed reports said the suspect was Abdelrahman al-Shaludi, a former Palestinian prisoner from the flashpoint neighborhood of Silwan.  Police confirmed that the suspect, which it had yet to name, was from Silwan and had previously served in Israeli prison.

According to the Times, relaying information from Israel Radio, “A Hamas spokesperson said in response to the reports that if indeed it was a terrorist attack, then it was a natural response to Israel’s actions in Jerusalem.”

UPDATE: Government spokesman Ofir Gendelmen tweeted that the terrorist apprehended in the attack is a member of Hamas.
