BREAKING: Jewish Activist Shot in Jerusalem

Yehuda Glick, a prominent Jewish activist, was shot and seriously wounded in Jerusalem this evening after giving a speech.

Ynet reports:

Glick is a central activist in Temple Mount movements and a symbol of the struggle for Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount. Police and the Shin Bet have often barred Glick from the Temple Mount and he has been fighting legal battles against Israeli law enforcement authorities against these bans, some of which have been successful.

At the conference on Wednesday night, Glick presented a video filmed on the Temple Mount on Wednesday morning that shows Palestinians trying to scare the Jewish visitors away with “Allahu Akbar” calls. “This is the situation in Jerusalem today,” he said.

The attack occurs less than two weeks after Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas demanded that Jews be barred from the Temple Mount, and called on Palestinians to defend the al-Aqsa Mosque, which is located on the Temple Mount, against Jews.

We must prevent them from entering the Noble Sanctuary in any way. This is our Al-Aqsa and our church. They have no right to enter and desecrate them. We must confront them and defend our holy sites.

Ynet also reported that Palestinians were shooting off fireworks in the Old City of Jerusalem when they received words of the assassination attempt.

Glick’s brother, Yitzchak, is a doctor who is known for providing medical care to Palestinians.
