Praising U.S. Support, Netanyahu Insists Relations “Stronger Than What Is Being Said”

Following a press conference yesterday (a portion of which is embedded below), Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took questions from reporters. One of the questions had to do with Israel’s relations with the Obama administration.

Regarding relations with the US… Netanyahu said “there is no crisis with the US. I spoke with Kerry and we had a very good conversation. We also spoke yesterday and the day before. I have spoken with Obama a number of times. The relations [are] stronger than it what is being said. We recived support and I praise Obama for it.”

He further thanked the US for giving Israel the emergency funds it requested for additional Iron Dome batteries and praised their support of a demilitarized [Gaza].

Prime Minister Netanyahu also noted the similarity of the threats Israel and the United States are facing.

Hamas is like ISIS. ISIS is like Hamas. They’re branches of the same tree. And I can say that the entire world has been shocked by the atrocities of ISIS. You saw this, the beheading of an American journalist, Foley. It shows you the barbarism, the savagery of these people. Well, we face the same savagery. The people who wantonly rocket our cities and want to conduct mass killings, and when they can they murder children, teenagers; they shoot them in the head, throw people from the sixth floor – their own people; and use their people as human shields.
