Hamas Asks Hezbollah to Join Fight Against Israel

The terrorist organization Hamas has called on Hezbollah, another terrorist organization, to assist them in Hamas’ fight against Israel. Mousa Abu Marzouk, deputy head of Hamas’ poitical bureau, made this request via the Russian news agency RIA Novosti, saying, “We hope the Lebanese front will open and together we will fight against this formation [Israel]. There’s no arguing that Lebanese resistance could mean a lot.”

The Lebanese-Israeli border has been relatively calm since the war between Israel and Hezbollah in the summer of 2006. Although there have been several rockets fired from Lebanon in the past few weeks, they have all been attributed to Palestinian groups, not Hezbollah. The Lebanese Army, IDF, and UN peacekeeping troops have all had increased security on the border.

In a televised speech last Friday, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah spoke out against Israel.

Ehud Barak said that in any possible war between Israel and Gaza, it would be quick and decisive and the victory would be clear. But Gaza today says to them — you are cowards that murder children, and if you face our heroes face to face, you and your army will fall…Hezbollah and the Lebanese resistance will stand by the Palestinian people’s uprising and resistance in our heart, willpower, hope and destiny.

Last week, Nasrallah talked over the phone with Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal and Islamic Jihad leader Ramadan Salah . They discussed maintaining diplomatic ties in the “battle the Palestinian resistance is facing.”
