The Israeli government has unveiled its latest public-relations tool in its battle to convince the West that Iran is well on its way nuclear-bomb readiness. The Diaspora Affairs Ministry launched Inside Iran’s Nuclear Weapons Plan, an animated video that targets Westerners, especially Americans, with a very clear message: Don’t let Iran get the bomb, it will affect everyone.
Just hours after the video went live, The Times of London praised its makers because “the cartoon sets out, in the simplest possible terms, the global threat posed by Iran’s nuclear ambition.”
As talks between Tehran and world powers aimed at brokering a permanent solution to the crisis continue in Vienna, the cartoon sets out Israel’s position that Iran’s nuclear centrifuges must be dismantled as part of any deal.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, is shown taking a selfie in front of a nuclear plant, adding the text, “Me and my beauties”, and the cartoon underlines Tehran’s history of duplicity over its atomic programme.
For its part, Tehran attempts to portray President Hassan Rouhani as a moderate. However, the latest round of talks with the P5+1 broke down at the weekend, the nuclear program continues unabated and the regime silences dissenters, sometimes permanently.
