Four Israeli Firms Named WEF Technology Pioneers for 2019

The China-based World Economic Forum included four Israeli companies in its list of 56 Technology Pioneers for 2019, released on July 1. This year’s cohort was selected by a committee of 59 leading technology experts, investors, and entrepreneurs.

“Our new tech pioneers are at the cutting edge of many industries, using their innovations to address serious issues around the world,” said Fulvia Montresor, Head of Technology Pioneers at the Forum. “This year’s pioneers know that technology is about more than innovation – it is also about application. This is why we believe they’ll shape the future.”

The Israeli companies on the list are:

  • Airobotics, headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, with R&D in Petah Tikva. The world’s first and only regulatory compliant commercial unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) solution that can be operated remotely, Airobotics’ platform includes a robotic airbase, multi-sensor drone and artificial intelligence (AI)-driven analytics.
  • MeMed Diagnosticsof Haifa. MeMed’s breakthrough point-of-care system quickly and reliably determines whether an infection is caused by bacteria that will respond to an antibiotic, or by a virus. The platform addresses the problem of antibiotic overuse and resistant bacteria.
  • QED-itof Tel Aviv. The company’s enterprise solution for data privacy
enables secure collaboration between companies using sensitive data. Banks use QEDIT when transferring assets on decentralized networks and companies use it to set up supply-chain management systems while preserving confidentiality.
  • TIPA, headquartered in Hod Hasharon. TIPA makes fully compostable flexible packaging products that address the plastic waste crisis yet require no changes in the current manufacturing process for plastic packaging.

All 56 Technology Pioneers are eligible for a two-year program with the World Economic Forum, when they can collaborate with emerging tech peers, engage with industry leaders, and work with public and private experts around the world. Several are participating this week in the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Dalian, China.
