At least 4 Dead, 17 Injured in Jerusalem Truck-Ramming Terror Attack

A Palestinian resident of Jerusalem murdered at least 4 Israelis Sunday by ramming his truck into a group of pedestrians who had just gotten off a bus at the Haas Promenade in the Armon Hanatziv neighborhood, police and eyewitnesses report. At least 17 more were injured in the attack. The dead victims, 3 female and 1 male, were all in their 20s.

According to eyewitnesses, after striking the pedestrians, the driver shifted into reverse and continued running them over. The terrorist was reportedly shot and killed at the scene. Israel’s chief of police, Roni Alsheikh, confirmed that the attacker was a resident of eastern Jerusalem, but declined to give further details because of the ongoing investigation.

The attack comes against a backdrop of the passage of UN Resolution 2334, which described Israel’s presence in Jerusalem and other territories captured in 1967 as illegal. In the wake of that resolution, Palestinian leaders called for an increase in their “popular resistance,” a known code-word for terror attacks, as well as international boycotts of Israel.
